If I could give more than five stars I would。 It’s only January and I’m fairly certain this will be the book of the year for me。 I’m not going to go into any detail on what The Words is about because I think it’s best to go along for the ride without expectations。 But I can’t express how much I loved this book so prepare for a lot of gushing…Ashley Jade has this incredible talent for （metaphorically） tearing your beating heart out of your chest and clubbing you with it， but in such an astounding If I could give more than five stars I would。 It’s only January and I’m fairly certain this will be the book of the year for me。 I’m not going to go into any detail on what The Words is about because I think it’s best to go along for the ride without expectations。 But I can’t express how much I loved this book so prepare for a lot of gushing…Ashley Jade has this incredible talent for （metaphorically） tearing your beating heart out of your chest and clubbing you with it， but in such an astounding and poignant way that you thank her for it and beg her to do it over and over again。 The way she builds these complex， flawed， emotive， captivating， and so beautifully human， characters sucks you into Phoenix and Lennon’s story from the first sentence。 It’s as if the author has poured her soul into these characters and their story， and some parts seem so personal that it almost feels like an invasion to be reading them。 But this adds so much to the experience of reading this book。 It makes the characters and what they go through seem that bit more real。 Their passion， ambition， heartache， fear， guilt， hope， angst， love， bleeds off the page。 Ironically I don’t think there are words to do The Words justice in a review so I’m not going to try。 Just read it and lose yourself in it like I did， but clear your schedule for the rest of the day first。 Once you start， you won’t want to put it down。 。。。more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this book deserves more。 I couldn’t put it down and had to read it twice before I could write a review because Phoenix and Lennon’s story gutted me and I could relate to Lennon in a lot of ways。 I don’t think any book will ever get me out of the book hangover I have after reading this one。 You did it yet again Ashley。

Where do I even begin with this review？ I have already read one of my favorite books of the year。 I was pulled into this story from page one and completely sucked into this world。 I lost track of all time and reality and did not put this book down until I was finished。I laughed。 I swooned。 I wanted to throw my reading device。 I teared up。 My emotions were all over the place。 This was a roller coaster ride I did not want to get off of。These characters were broken and beautiful and I couldn't help Where do I even begin with this review？ I have already read one of my favorite books of the year。 I was pulled into this story from page one and completely sucked into this world。 I lost track of all time and reality and did not put this book down until I was finished。I laughed。 I swooned。 I wanted to throw my reading device。 I teared up。 My emotions were all over the place。 This was a roller coaster ride I did not want to get off of。These characters were broken and beautiful and I couldn't help but fall in love with all of them and that includes the secondary characters as well that I definitely hope we get more of。 I felt like I was a part of their journey as I was reading this and I loved every minute of being on it with them。Ashley never disappoints with her writing。 This story was no different。 I absolutely cannot wait for more from her and to see what she has in store for us next because I am already so read to read it。 。。。more

This book wrecked me in the best way possible。 I am speechless， truly。 It was Ashley’s most intense book till date and you will not regret reading this one。First off， this book is long， really really long。 And that is always a no-no for me cause I usually tend to lose my interest。 But believe me when I say this， that I was not able to put this one down。 Sleep became a hindrance cause I just wanted to read this book。 The story starts when Lennon and Phoenix are in high school。 Phoenix is a singer This book wrecked me in the best way possible。 I am speechless， truly。 It was Ashley’s most intense book till date and you will not regret reading this one。First off， this book is long， really really long。 And that is always a no-no for me cause I usually tend to lose my interest。 But believe me when I say this， that I was not able to put this one down。 Sleep became a hindrance cause I just wanted to read this book。 The story starts when Lennon and Phoenix are in high school。 Phoenix is a singer and oh so popular but Lennon is the chubby kid who is always getting bullied。 I would like to mention just how beautifully Ashley tackled the sensitive issue of body shaming and body positivity。 I got tears in my eyes several times。 Their connection is unmistakable but then Phoenix does something that breaks Lennon’s heart。 The story picks up after 4 years。 I don’t want to give anymore of the plot away cause it's a ride that has to be experienced。 The chemistry is fiery and their love is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time。 You’ll feel so many emotions， so be prepared。 Ashley Jade is the Queen of steam。 My Kindle caught fire several times。 The side characters were a treat。 Each and every one of them were so beautifully written that you can’t help but eagerly wait for their happy end。 And that teaser in the end， I saw what you did there Ashley！ Whilst this is a standalone， I can’t help but long for the books of the other characters too。 All in all I 100% recommend this book to all you guys out there。 No matter what trope you like， this book is a can’t miss。*ARC provided in exchange for a completely honest review。 。。。more

Love。 Love。 Love。At this point I’ll read anything by A。 Jade。 Her writing takes a long time but it’s so worth it。 Her books always have me feeling so many emotions。 I wanted to throw my kindle out of anger， I cried， and I laughed。 Phoenix wasn’t what I expected him to be。 He did betray Lennon and I disliked him for it。 I honestly liked that she was always the one for him。 He comes close to my favorite guy from her。

I’m not that into Rockstar books because typically they involve heroes who are addicts or else just engage in a lot of selfish behavior。 But， ever since I read Ashley Jade’s Devil duet， I’ve been reading her other books to chase that high。 I also do love second chance， and angst。 So I was hoping those elements of the story would cancel out other parts of the Rockstar trope that tend to be frustrating。 This one does not come close to the Devil duet。 That's still her best work by far。 That being s I’m not that into Rockstar books because typically they involve heroes who are addicts or else just engage in a lot of selfish behavior。 But， ever since I read Ashley Jade’s Devil duet， I’ve been reading her other books to chase that high。 I also do love second chance， and angst。 So I was hoping those elements of the story would cancel out other parts of the Rockstar trope that tend to be frustrating。 This one does not come close to the Devil duet。 That's still her best work by far。 That being said， this isn't a terrible read。 Ashley Jade has a knack for storytelling that kept me reading on， where I might have DNFed for a lesser author。 She also manages to make certain plot turns not seem stupid。For example， it's a common trope in Rockstar books to put the heroine in the position of having to professionally babysit the hero （i。e。， make sure he doesn't do drugs or get into PR scandals）。 This one has that plot， but it sets it up well。 In a lesser book， Lennon would stumble into the job by pure unlucky coincidence， not realizing that it involved working with her ex boyfriend， Phoenix — cue the mutual surprise and dismay。 （I've probably read 10-20 mediocre books with that eye-roll premise）。 In this book， his people specifically seek her out because she's his ex who split from him on bad terms， and they're looking for someone who hates and won't coddle him。 And she turns down the job at first， before she takes it because she needs the paycheck。 So， this book uses an overdone eye-roll worthy trope， yes。 But the set-up for it makes a lot more sense， and is done better than it is in other books in this subgenre。 Aside from all that， the main problem with this book is that Phoenix does something TRULY unforgivable to Lennon towards the beginning– and although his apology ends up being good， that doesn’t come until the end。 They start reconnecting long before that。 And so， it makes Lennon look weak for giving into him too soon， before he does enough to make up for the horrible thing that he did to her。 So I can’t give it above 3 stars for that reason。 Too much of the middle of this too-long story drags on with Lennon seeming weak for giving in， and Phoenix behaving in ways that are very off-putting and make you want to throat punch him for 80% of it。 But aside from that， if you want an angst-fest and a satisfying （eventual） apology from a hero who wronged the heroine， it's mostly well done。 I’ll still continue reading Ashley Jade’s work， in hopes that she puts out something on the level of The Devil duet again。 。。。more

I started this book last night and I didn’t sleep at all because I had to finish it！ It was totally worth the book hangover though。 Lennon struggling with food and her body image hits close to home。 I have never had an another author explain how it feels so well in descriptive terms。 I felt like Ashley Jade had crawled into my head and knew my struggles。Great read highly recommend
